KIDS Konnection Mission

To facilitate the creation of a handicap accessible playground that would enable all children and adults both with and without special needs and their families to play and interact in a safe and positive environment while building community relationships and partnerships.

Did you know?

• The Kids Konnection Playground was designed based on the theory of "parallel play," which means that individuals with and without disabilities can play side by side.



• The Americans with Disabilities Act requires 50 percent handicap accessibility. The Kids Konnection Boundless Playground is 70 percent handicap accessible.



• The fence and gates offer added safety for parents of all children.



• The surfacing of the playground provides added safety and accessibility. It is "latex free," allowing individuals with Spina Bifida to play without the worry of exposure to latex.



• The Roller Slide was added to the design to offer a slide that individuals with Cochlear implants could enjoy.



• The Sway Fun offers a safe alternative for individuals in a wheelchair to experience swinging.



• Jump on the blue squares to the right of the entrance to discover some hidden fun!



• The playground provides sensory experiences with sand, plants and sound. Individuals who are hearing or sight impaired or those with autism can benefit greatly from these sensory centers.

Custom Engraved Bricks
Custom engraved bricks are a great way to contribute to the St. Tammany Kids Konnection playground. Your brick will be used in a walkway at the playground site and can be purchased in memory of a loved one, in honor of a business, or as a special gift from your family.
